Willie James Brown, 87, Reading, died Aug. 29 in Jamaica Memorial Hospital, New York. His wife, Ruby Brown, died Dec. 22, 2004.
Born in Simpson, Ga., he was a son of the late Will and Mary (Watson) Brown.
Brown was employed for 48 years in the shipping and receiving department of LudenA�a�a��s Inc., Reading, retiring in 1990.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Brown was a member of George Washington Carver American Legion Post 962, Reading.
Surviving are a son, Samuel Johnson, Lancaster; and a daughter, Catherine (Johnson) Spearman, Queens Village, N.Y.
Other survivors include a brother, Dan Brown, West Palm Beach, Fla.
There are also six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Mae (Johnson) Buchanan, in 1990.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Ernest Glimp officiating. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
