Violet Welch

Violet M. Welch, 97, Reading, died July 11 at 1:15 p.m. at Berks Heim, where she had resided for 31/2 years. She was the widow of James H. Welch, who passed away Aug. 8, 1974.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Lizzie (Marks) Thomas.

She was employed for 21 years as a licensed practical nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital, retiring in 1974.

Welch was a member of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Reading, and the churchA�a�a��s Holy Family Society and Legion of Mary.

Surviving are three sons: Harold J., Fleetwood; John T., West Wyomissing; and Byron P., Reading.

Also surviving are two sisters, Fern (Thomas) Clark, Reading, and Betty A. (Thomas) Babb, West Reading.

There also is one grandson.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Chapel of the Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. at Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., 444 N. Ninth St., Reading.
