Violet Shaffer

Violet M. Shaffer, 83, formerly of Temple and ManorCare Assisted Living, West Reading, died April 24 at 9:45 p.m. in Wyomissing Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Reading, where she had been a resident for two weeks.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond H. Shaffer Sr.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Jenny Mae (Miller) Wert.
Shaffer had been employed for more than 10 years in housekeeping by Albright College, retiring in 1985.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy (Wert) Hummel, Adamstown, and Eleanor (Wert) Smith, Temple.
There are also three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was predeceased by a son, Raymond H. Jr., in 1994.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
