Steven Juan Torres, 24, Reading, died Oct. 2. 2007. Born Aug. 30, 1983, in Reading, he was a son of Gilbert Torres and Joann M. (Hillegas) Torres, both of Reading.
He was employed as a cleaner by Sweet Street Desserts Co. for the last year and previously worked for five years as a groundskeeper at Charles Evans Cemetery.
He was a 2002 graduate of Reading High School.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Felicita M. Torres, Reading; and three brothers: Jason Lee Torres, Reading; Sugundao, husband of Melissa Torres, Reading; and Jimmy Carreo, Reading.
Other survivors include his paternal grandmother, Felicita Rivera, in Puerto Rico; and his maternal grandmother, Shirley (Hassler) Hillegas, Reading.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., 444 N. Ninth St., Reading, with the Revs. William and Olga Moreira officiating. Friends will be received Friday 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery.
