Shirley L. Ludwig

Shirley L. (Sassaman) Ludwig died on 11/27/2024 at the age of 92. Shirley was the wife of late Earl D. Ludwig, Sr. She lived in Ephrata, PA formally of Reading, PA. She was the daughter of the late Robert H. Sassaman and Bertha (Good) Sassaman. Shirley was a member of St. Luke’s Church in Reading.

Shirley graduated from Reading High School in 1950. She worked at Bell Telephone, St. Joseph Hospital, and Gilbert Assoc. as a telephone operator. She retired as a teacher assistant from the Reading School District working with Special Education students. Shirley had been active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and the ladies group at St. Luke’s church. For 25 years she ran bus trips for parents and friends to support students in the Reading High School Marching Band. Shirley is survived by a son James A. Ludwig of Reamstown, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She is proceeded in death by a daughter Jane (Ludwig) Imhoff, sons Earl D. Ludwig, Jr, Robert C. Ludwig, and Thomas E. Ludwig, sister Betty (Sassaman) Schafer, and brothers Robert H. Sassaman, and Richard A. Sassaman.
