Ruby Brown, 87, Reading, died Dec. 22 in the residence of a daughter, Catheryn (Johnson) Spearman, Queens Village, N.Y.
She was the wife of Willie J. Brown.
Born in Bunkie, La., she was a daughter of the late Jerry and Betty Watson.
Brown was a self-employed domestic worker for 50 years, retiring in 1999.
She was a member of St. John Baptist Church, Reading.
Brown was a past president of the ladies auxiliary of the George Washington Carver American Legion Post, Reading.
She is also survived by a son, Samuel Johnson, Lancaster.
Other survivors include six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Mae (Johnson) Buchanan, in 1990.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John Baptist Church. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
