Robert Stover

Robert L. Stover, 82, of West Lawn, passed away July 7, 2009 at South Eastern Veterans Center in Spring City where he was a resident since February 2008. He was the husband of Helene M. (Schneider) Stover who passed away September 27, 1997. Born in Grill on March 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Lloyd D. and Etta (Moore) Stover.

Mr. Stover was a 1945 graduate of Shillington High School. He was a US Navy veteran serving aboard the #103 USS Wilkes Barre. He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Robert was employed as a foreman by Sunoco/ Continenntal Can Corporation, Reading for 41 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #435, Reading Consitory and was a Life Member of Grill Fire Company.

Surviving are a son Timothy R. Stover of West Lawn, 2 grandsons Ryan T. Stover and Nicholas A. Stover and a sister Charlotte (Stover) Thren of San Bernadino, CA.

Services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Laureldale Cemetery. Friends will be received at the chapel Friday 1:00 to 2:00 PM. Interment will be in Laureldale Cemetery. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9th Street, Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Penn State Berks Ice Hockey team.
