Rita M. Bem, 84, Reading, died March 28, 2007, in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Feb. 22. Her husband, John Bem, passed away Nov. 9, 1996.
Born in Lowell, Mass., she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Violet (Hall) Mullarkey.
Bem was employed for 25 years as a packer by Armour & Co., Reading, retiring in 1972.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita R. (Quigg), wife of Kenneth Schaeffer, Reading, with whom she resided, and Darlene D. (Mullarkey), wife of Daniel Concordia, Reading.
Other survivors include a brother, George Mullarkey; and a sister, Mary (Mullarkey), wife of Phil Chirieleison, both of Reading.
There also are five grandchildren: Traci, Terri, Tara, Paul and Aubree; and eight great-grandchildren: Justin, Josh, Aryn, Meagan, Chelsey, Jordyn, Danny and Hayden.
She was predeceased by a sister, Agnes (Mullarkey) Pauley.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. PeterA�a�a��s Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Viewing will be Monday, 7:45 to 8:45 a.m., in the Bean Funeral Homes, Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
