Paul B. Swartz, 90, formerly of Reading, passed away Dec. 8, 2008, at 3:03 p.m. in South East VA Center, Spring City, Chester County, where he was for three years. He was the widower of June E. (Bell) Swartz, who passed away Jan. 7, 1998.
He was a son of the late Clayton K. and Candace M. (Boyer) Swartz.
Paul was employed in the boarding department of Berkshire Knitting Mills, and later was a stock distributor at Vanity Fair, retiring in the 1980s.
He was a 1934 graduate of Mohnton High School.
Paul was an Army veteran of World War II, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving are three sisters: Pauline V. (Swartz) Werner, Milton, Fla.; Arlene B. (Swartz) Bixler, Gulf Port, Miss.; and Fern M. (Swartz) Mosser, Mohnton.
Other survivors include seven nieces and nine nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Swartz; and two sisters, Edna Noecker and Mabel Huber.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. Ninth St., Reading. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
