Olwen J. (Bell) Mort

 Olwen J. (Bell) Mort, 76, formerly of Birdsboro, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the Mifflin Center. Born in Pottstown, she was the daughter of the late Sarah (Jones) and John Bell. She was the loving wife of Thomas P. Mort, Sr., who passed away November 9, 2015. Olwen worked as the Lead Technician at Pottstown Hospital for 35 years and was very passionate about her job. Even after retiring, she continued to accept calls related to her work which always brought a smile to her face. She was a long-time member of St. John’s United Church of Christ. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her granddaughter, Meredith, and they often found happiness together walking local craft fairs. A true book lover, Olwen poured herself into reading and was passionate about her beautiful gardens. She was immensely proud of her Welsh heritage, which enriched her identity. In addition to her family, Olwen had a special place in her heart for her grand puppies, Tasha, Bentley, and Scarlett, with whom she enjoyed countless memorable moments.

Olwen is survived by her children, Patricia Horchak, Thomas P. Mort, Jr., and Joyce O. Mort her numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Thomas, Olwen is predeceased by her brothers, Larry Bell and Wesley “Mark” Bell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Olwen’s final resting place will be Limerick Garden of Memories. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, Reading is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.whelanschwartz.com.
