Nelson T. Conley, 79, Reading, died Feb. 19 at 7:55 p.m. in Berkshire Manor, Exeter Township, where he had resided four days.
He was the husband of Betty A. (Mingora) Conley.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert O. Conley Sr. and Dorothy E. (Thomas) Conley.
Conley was an alderman in Reading for 18 years and was employed for 20 years as supervisor for Code Services of Reading. He was last employed as a correctional officer from 1980 until his retirement in 1989.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Conley is also survived by two daughters, Dorothy E. Conley, Reinholds, and Margaret Conley, St. Clair, Schuylkill County; and three sons: Patrick Conley, Reading; Nelson R. Conley, East Point, Mich.; and Richard R. Conley, Panama City, Fla.
Other survivors include a stepson, Brian L. Heatwole, Reading.
Also surviving is a brother, Robert O. Jr., Denver, Colo.
There are also five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
