Martin A. Straka, 90, West Lawn, formerly of Reading, died June 19 at 1:45 p.m. in Reading Hospital where he had been a patient three days. His wife, Thelma J. (Kissinger) Straka, died April 21, 2003.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Sovy (Posiwak) Straka.
Straka was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Straka was a life member of the South End Social Club, Reading.
Surviving are two daughters, Christine M. (Straka) Altenderfer, Sinking Spring, and Sophie A. (Straka) Orth, Reinholds; and three sons: Martin, Exeter Township; Michael, Sinking Spring; and Carl, West Lawn.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren: Terri Tobolski, Christopher Altenderfer, Dustin Orth, Angela Straka, Michelle Straka, Carl J. Straka and Jenaro Pullano.
There also are four great-grandchildren: Seth, Joseph Michael, Brandon and Jessie Straka.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Steven, Joseph and John Straka; and a sister, Mary (Straka) Domicz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated this morning at 11 in St. Ignatius Loyola Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA, 19608. Calling hours are 10 to 11 in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Church at the above address. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., 444 N. Ninth St., Reading.
