Margaret E. George, 85, of Robesonia, formerly of Reading, passed away on Monday, November 17th, at 4:21 p.m. at home.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Johanna (Conway) Pierce, and widow of John V. George, who passed away April 29, 1987.
She was a former member of St. Joseph's R.C.C. in Reading, where she was a member of the Mother's Club and served as a Den Mother. She was also former member of St. Margaret's R.C.C in Reading.
Mrs. George was also a member of the Mother's Club at the former Mulberry and Green schools.
She worked as a border for Camp Hosiery in Reading for 12 years, retiring in 1987.
Survivors include: Sons: Rudy C. Pierce, husband of Eleanor Pierce, Bethel, John J. George, husband of Linda George of Gastonia, NC, Joseph P. George, husband of Debra George of Reading; daughters: Johanna M. (George) Goheen, widow of David A. Goheen Sr. of Reading, Margaret A. (George) Ayala of Robesonia, and Mary A. (George) Haubrich, wife of William Haubrich of Wyomissing.
There are also sixteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
There are also brothers: John and James Pierce, both of Reading, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Robert Pierce; and three sisters: Mary A. Riegel, Ann Benevento, and Catherine Dietrich.
Services from the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9th St., Reading, Saturday at 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from the Chapel of the Resurrection at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd., Laureldale, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Msgr. Edward Domin Celebrant. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends will be received Saturday from 8;15 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
