Lyle Layser

December 3, 1927 — January 3, 2007

Lyle L. Layser, 79, Bern Township, passed away Jan. 3, 2007, at 11:45 a.m. in the Laurel Center, Tilden Township, where he had resided 51/2 weeks. He was the husband of Christine M. Layser, Bern Township.

Born in Richland, Lebanon County, he was a son of the late Earl and Mary (Fisher) Layser.

Layser was employed for 35 years as a loan manager by Hamburg Savings and Trust, retiring in 1992.

He was a graduate of Myerstown High School.

Layser was a Marine Corps veteran.

He was a member of Spring Valley Church of God, Muhlenberg Township, where he served as a greeter for 28 years.

Layser was a member of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. He enjoyed bird watching, walking, fishing and gardening.

He also is survived by a son, Leslie Layser, Mount Carmel; and two daughters, Lynore (Layser) Moyer, Auburn, and Loretta (Layser) Delgado, Hamburg.

Other survivors include a brother, Neal Layser, Palmyra; and a sister, Anita (Layser) Sunberg, Mullica Hill, N.J.

There also are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He also is survived by his wifeA�a�a��s three sons: Douglass E. Shuttleworth, Bern Township; David E. Shuttleworth, Hamburg; and Duane E. Eisenhower, Bernville.

There also are three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Richard Layser.

Memorial services will be Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. in Spring Valley Church of God, with the Rev. Robert E. Hinson officiating. Burial will be private in Laureldale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of oneA�a�a��s choice. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
