Lydia Ponce-Perez, 71, Reading, died of natural causes Aug. 18 at 2:23 a.m. in her residence.
Her husband, Gonzalez Avila, died Nov. 11, 1993.
Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jovito Ponce and Valentina Perez.
Ponce-Perez had been employed most of her life as a seamstress in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
She was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal MI, Reading.
Ponce-Perez is survived by three daughters, Evangelina (Avila) Garcia, Hortencia Avila and Rosario Avila, all of Reading; and five sons: Norberto Serrano, Dimas Avila and Alberto Avila, all of Reading; Miguel Avila, New York City; and Orlando Avila, St. Croix.
Other survivors include six brothers: Jose Luis Ponce and Luis Manuel Pena, both of New York City; Miguel Romero, Lawton, Okla.; Felix Ponce, Anaheim, Calif.; Jovito Ponce, Reading; and Miguel Ponce, San Juan, Puerto Rico.
There are also 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal MI. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements
