Leon Wapinski, 83, died July 14 at 3:45 p.m. in his Reading residence.
He was the husband of Helen M. (Quinton) Wapinski.
Born in Kolo, Poland, he was a son of the late Alexander and Josephine (Stolarska) Wapinski.
Wapinski had been employed for 33 years as a relief man by Hofmann Industries Inc., Spring Township, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Wapinski graduated from high school in Poland.
He was a Polish Army veteran of World War II and a prisoner of war for five years.
Wapinski was a life member of the United Labor Council of Reading and Berks County.
He is also survived by two daughters, Diana (Wapinski) Paris, Elkton, Md., and Linda (Wapinski) Dierker, Massey, Md., and a stepson, Robert E. Craig, Reading.
There are also three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Wapinski, in 1988.Memorial services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. in Bean Funeral Homes Inc., Sinking Spring. Private burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret's Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
