Lee H. Parr, 87 of Reading passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 9:02am in his residence.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Howard and Beatrice (Hirsh) Parr, and the husband of the late Vilma (Netroy) Parr who passed away in 1999.
Mr. Parr was a 1941 graduate of Muhlenberg High School. He was employed at Dana Parish Corporation as a Tool and Dye maker for 33 years, retiring in 1975. He was an Army veteran of World War II, Technician 5th Grade, 86 Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop, also known as the Black Hawks.
Mr. Parr was an avid outdoorsman and liked to spend time reading his bible.
Surviving are 2 sons: Dennis L. husband of Ruth Ann Parr of Shillington, Jeffrey S. husband of Doris Parr of Oley and a daughter Lori A. Parr of Reading. There are 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great-Grandchildren. He is predeceased by a brother Stewart L. Parr.
Services will be Monday, February 28, 2011 at 11:00am in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 North 9th Street, Reading, Rev. Dr. Brett J. Reider, Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Friends will be received Monday 10-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to: Covenant Home Care, 2615 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606
