Kenneth Dunkelberger

Kenneth D. Dunkelberger, 84, of Reading, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the Reading Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. Dunkelberger who passed away on May 8, 2006. Born in Shoemakersville, he was the son of the late Leroy and Margaret (Zimmerman) Dunkelberger. Kenny worked 2 years at the Reading Hospital, 32 years at King Kup Schoener Candies, 13 years at Zipf's, and from 1998 to the present day he was working at the Reading Beverages Beer Distributors. He was also a life member of the Jackson Democratic Club, Ivy Leaf Association Club retiring in 1994 and a volunteer Fireman of the Reading Hose Department. Kenny never owned a car and loved walking everywhere. He enjoyed his weekly trips to the Sands Casino and Wednesday morning breakfast with his daughters. Kenny is survived by his children Ellen Graybill, wife of Daniel Graybill of Hamburg; Marilyn Magette, wife of Thomas Magette of Wyomissing; stepchildren, Maryann Billy, Jackie Sweimler, Gerry Kreider and Nelson Hyneman III. Kenny is also survived by his sister Ruth Coller; brother, Arlan Dunkelberger; 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter Laura Graybill and 8 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Service will be held in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 North 9th Street, Reading, Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in Charles Evans Cemetery.
