June VanPelt, 89, of West Lawn, passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2013, surrounded by her devoted family. She was the loving wife of Howard VanPelt, Sr., married for 69 years. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter Pelker and Ruth (Helft) Pelker. June was the first born in the Pelker family of 10 children, devoted to the care of her sisters and brothers; extending her love as the family grew to her own son, grandson, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. VanPelt enjoyed her employment of 49 years at Linette's Candy where she was responsible for packaging of the candies. She will be remembered for her strong will, her particular and orderly nature, and her joy for social and family gatherings. June is survived by her son, Howard VanPelt, Jr., husband of Ella (DeGreen) VanPelt; grandson, Steven VanPelt, husband of Melinda (Schwarz) VanPelt; two great grandchildren, Madison & Steven C. VanPelt; sisters, Arlene (Pelker) Guti, and Joan (Pelker) Aquila; and brother, Robert Pelker. June is preceded by sisters, Victoria (Pelker) Pullano, Anna (Pelker) Milligan, Helen (Pelker) Sands; and brothers, Jerry Pelker, Ted Pelker, and Charles Pelker.
