Joseph Gentile, 85, Spring Township, died Sept. 15 at 8:25 p.m. in ManorCare, West Reading, where he was a patient since May 11. He was the husband of Dorothy (Medvetz) Gentile.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Adam and Jenny (John) Gentile.
He worked as a truck driver and crane operator for Parish Structural Products Division of Dana Corp. for 34 years, retiring in 1981.
Gentile was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
He served in the Army Air Force in World War II.
He is also survived by two sons, Robert Gentile, at home; and Joseph Gentile, Shillington; and three daughters: Jennifer Gentile, Mohrsville; Justine (Gentile) Cummings, Putman Valley, N.Y.; and Cathy (Gentile) Tsavaris, Philadelphia.
Other survivors include three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., 444 N. Ninth St., Reading, with the Rev. Monsignor Felix A. Losito officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
