John P. Holzinger, 87, of Reading, passed away Saturday, February 21st at 12:50 A.M. at Hawthorne Home in Reading, where he had been a patient since November 24, 2008. Before being admitted to Hawthorne Home, he resided with his former wife Shirley M. Holzinger.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late John D. Holzinger and Verna M. (Stoudt) Holzinger.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in World War II, and was a member of St Paul's R.C.C., Reading.
He worked as a Security Guard for various businesses, including Albright College, Kutztown University, The Reading Hospital, Berkshire Country Club, and most recently Giorgio Food, before retiring in 1984.
In addition to his former wife, he is survived by a daughter: Kristel A. (Holzinger), wife of Joseph Domkus of Wyomissing.
There is also one brother: Francis C. Holzinger, husband of Dorothy (Matz) Holzinger of Alsace Twp.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heartland Hospice, 4 Park Plaza, Suite 105, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
