Johanne Smith

Johanne M. Smith, 90, Exeter Township, formerly of Salem, N.J., who moved to the Reading area in 1990 to be with her grandchildren, died Oct. 8 in Outlook Pointe of Reading, Exeter Township. Her husband, Stanley M. Smith, passed away Dec. 3, 1993. They met and married while he was stationed in Norway during World War II.
Born in Horten, Norway, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Laura Christensen.
Smith was a member of the Salem (N.J.) Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Christine S. (Smith), wife of John Forlini, Exeter Township; and a son, Karl Smith, Boynton Beach, Fla.
Other survivors include a brother, Knute Christensen, Atlanta.
There are also two grandchildren, Ashley and Jordan Forlini, both of Exeter Township.
Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. Ninth St., Reading, PA 19601, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901-9928.
