Jay Alan Trefsgar, 76, of Chesterbrook, Chester County, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at 7:30 am at the Main Line Health Paoli Hospital. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Dwyer) Trefsgar. Born in Reading, Mr. Trefsgar was the son of the late Elmer Arthur Trefsgar and Claire (Mauray) Trefsgar.
Mr. Trefsgar was known for his kind and joyful spirit. He enjoyed talking to people and was known for helping others. He was very proud of his service in the United States Army. Following his service, he enjoyed working at Glidden Paints in Reading for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of the West Reading Police Cadet Drum and Bugle Corp
In addition to his wife, Mr. Trefsgar is survived by his children; Tracy L. Ocasio, with whom he lived in Chesterbrook, Lacinda L. Schell of Temple and his grandchildren: Chevon; Timothy; Taylor; Darius; and Neikos; and his great grandchildren: Anthony; Kiara; Leo; and Zoe. He is also survived by a son, Michael S. Trefsgar of Reading and a daughter, Donna Kay Trefsgar-Collazo and grandson, Jacob of Reading. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Richard Trefsgar and wife, Joanne of Reading.
The family will receive relatives and friends in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 North 9th Street, Reading on Monday, March 12, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
