James Harold Taylor was born October 3, 1937 in Reading, Pennsylvania to Bessie and Ernest Taylor, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021. His formative years were spent in Reading prior to joining the United States Navy. While in the military, he served as a Torpedoman’s Mate on the USS Tusk. James was a devout Christian who loved sharing Bible scriptures and teachings with loved ones, friends and acquaintances. His paternal grandmother, Anna introduced the family to the teachings of the Seventh Day Adventist church when he was a young man. James was an avid photographer and self-taught mechanic, always tinkering under the hood of the sports cars he loved to drive.
James lived much of his adult life in Southern California but eventually returned to his home state of Pennsylvania
James was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Ernest, and his son James “Corky” Taylor, II. Memories of James will be cherished by his wife, Ana, beloved daughter Michelle Bodwin (son-in-law Reginald Bodwin), sister Patricia Tull, as well stepchildren, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
