James J. Kernan, 95, formerly of Reading, passed away March 27, 2011 at 5:45 pm in Laurel Center, Tilden Township. He was the husband of Catherine A. (Warfel) Kernan a resident of Laurel Center. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late James G. and Bertha Kernan. Mr. Kernan was a long distance truck driver and mechanic and then a sheet metal worker for Trim Masters Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church and served in the United States Army during World War II in the 29th Division involved in the Normandy Invasion. In addition to his wife he is survived by many nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by his brother and sister. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church 3121 Kutztown Road, Laureldale Saturday at 10:00 am. Rev. Christopher M. Zelonis celebrant. Interment Gethsemane Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday 9-9:45 am.
