James F. Dalton Sr., 81, formerly of Reading, passed away Jan. 29, 2007, at 3:55 p.m. in the Lutheran Home at Topton, where he had resided since December 2006. He was a former resident of Grandview Manor in Fleetwood.
His wife, Jacqueline B. (Engle) Dalton, passed away May 1, 1986.
Born July 8, 1925, in Reading, he was a son of the late Walter Dalton Sr. and Katherine (Keen) Dalton.
Dalton was employed for 38 years as a tow motor operator by Dana Corp., Reading, retiring in October 1986.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Dalton was a member of the Laureldale Athletic Association, West Reading Fire Company and the Kutztown Rod and Gun Club.
He was a lifetime member of the former Reading VFW, local Steel Workers Union and the NRA.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty M. (Dalton), wife of Dale P. Carl, Topton, and Edith K. (Dalton), wife of James H. Noecker Sr., Sinking Spring; and a son, James F., husband of Pam Dalton, Union, W.Va.
Other survivors include four sisters: Jacqulyn (Dalton) Garber, Laureldale; Alma (Dalton) Henry, Mohnton; Jeanette (Dalton) Trumbore, Temple; and Catherine (Dalton) Staboleski, West Reading.
Also surviving are five brothers: John, Reading; Charles, Reading; Thomas, Exeter Township; Patrick, Wernersville; and Harold, Arizona.
There also are five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Victor A. Kroninger officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery.
