James A. Brown, 81, Reading, died April 15 at 10:05 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township, where he had resided since Feb. 23.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mabel (Simpson) Brown.
Born in Berks County, he was a son of the late James B. and Catharine (Satter) Brown.
Brown was employed for more than 15 years as a dyer by O.B. Dyers Inc., Reading, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ Reformed, Spangsville.
Surviving are three sisters: Hannah (Brown) Boyle, Laureldale; Bertha (Brown) Tothero, Reading; and Betty (Brown) Pfautz, Birdsboro.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
