Born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Roque and Ramona (Rodriguez) Rivera.
He was predeceased by his wife: Carmen A. (Pagan) Rivera.
Survivors include his sons: Leo, David, and Angel Rivera and daughters: Carmen A. Cuesta, Rebecca Gomez, and Luzivette Vasquez. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren.
