Gertrude B. Pruitt, 96, formerly of Reading, died Oct. 3 at 10:15 p.m. in Spruce Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, West Reading, where she had resided since 1998.
She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Pruitt.
Born in Columbia, S.C., she was a daughter of the late J.D. and Mary A. (Coon) Black.
Pruitt was employed for many years as a waitress by Pomeroy's Department Store, Reading, retiring in 1974.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be private. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
