Gerald E. "Jerry" Spangler of Pennside passed away June 2, 2012 in The Reading Hospital & Medical Center where he was a patient since May 29,2012. He was born on September 17, 1939 in Reading. Jerry is survived by his loving and devoted wife Debbie. He was a son of the late Isaac J. Spangler and Doris E. (Wunderlich) Reinhart. Also surviving are brothers Larry V. Spangler husband of Ralphine and Jack D. Spangler husband of Patricia both of Reading. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jerry was a United States Air Force Veteran and was past commander of VFW Post 8993 in Stony Creek. Jerry worked for Industrial Sanitation for 11 years. Prior to becoming an officer, steward and president of East End A.C. he was employed there for 30 years retiring due to illness. Jerry loved to travel with his wife and was an avid sports fan. He also loved animals and took in many stray cats and found them a loving home. Although he battled a long illness he remained a kind, gentle and caring soul. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Deb and all who loved him.
