George Morton

George R. Morton, 79, of Reading, passed away January 28, 2009 at 9:55 am in St. Joseph Medical Center a patient since January 4, 2009. He was the husband of Barbara R. (Weber) Morton to whom he was married for 57 years. Born in Reading he was the son of the late Orville G. Morton and Ida(Smith) Gordon-Lennex. Mr. Morton was a welder for the Reading Railroad for 30 years and a veteran of the Korea Was serving on the USS Charles H. Roan from 1949-1952. He enjoyed fishing and camping in Delaware; breakfast with "Railroad Breakfast Gang" and lunch with his friends. In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters Debbie L. wife of Doug Garrison of Womelsdorf; Patricia A. Morton and her companion Carmelito Jimenez of Reading and Margaret R. Morton of Douglassville; graddaughter Amanda L. Jimenez and sister in law Dorothy Morton of Baltimore, MD. Services from Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home 444 North 9th Street Reading Monday at 10:00 am Rev. Darryl A. Cruz officiating. Interment Forest Hills Memorial Park.
