Gene Shenk Sr.

Gene A. Shenk Sr., 83, of Reading, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Sharon L. (Stitzman) Shenk, who passed away in 2014. Together they shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Earl W. Shenk and Anna (Ochocki) Shenk. He was a graduate of Reading High School. Gene served proudly in the United States Army. During his life, he was a Machinist for Narrow Fabric Industries, until retiring in 2003.

Gene is survived by his children, Christina M. Shenk, of West Reading; Keith D. Shenk, husband of Tracy Shenk, of Wernersville; Todd J. Shenk, husband of Karla Shenk of Ocean City, MD; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; siblings, Edward Shenk, of Harrisburg; and Theresa Clouse, of Exeter Township.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his children, Monique L. Buchter; Gene A. Shenk, Jr.; Michele L. Phile; and siblings, John Shenk and Bonnie Shenk.

Funeral Service will be held at Whelan & Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. 444 North 9th Street Reading, PA 19601 on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery.
