Gene Hornberger

Gene Hornberger, 78, of South Heidelberg Township, Rineholds, PA, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2013. He was the widower of Anna V. (Heister) Hornberger who passed away in 1995. Born in Reading, PA, Mr. Hornberger was the son of James and Gertrude (Keffer) Hornberger. Survivors include his 5 children residing in the Reading area: Gene Hornberger, Jr., husband of Melanie (Gingrich) Hornberger; Edward Hornberger, Sr.; Fae (Hornberger) Romberger, partner of John Lenard; Adam Hornberger; and Candy (Hornberger) Althouse, wife of Art Althouse. Additional survivors include 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 3 brothers: Richard Hornberger, Gerald Hornberger, and James Hornberger. Mr. Hornberger was hardworking, successfully self-employed for over 50 years as a roofer, starting his company at age 14.
