Fred Zimmerman

Fred B. Zimmerman, 90, died Oct. 14 at 12:55 p.m. in his Reading residence.
His wife, Elsie M. (Witmyer) Zimmerman, died Oct. 24, 2003.
Born in Laureldale, he was a son of the late Jay B. and Alvestia (Squibb) Zimmerman.
Zimmerman had been employed for 33 years as a machine operator by Textile Machine Works, later Rockwell International, Wyomissing, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of the former St. Stephen's United Church of Christ, Reading.
A former baseball player in the area circuit, Zimmerman was a member of the Jacobs Aircraft team.
Zimmerman is survived by a son, Donald L., Allentown.
Other survivors include a brother, Robert, Reading.
There are also 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Fred B. Jr., in October 1998, and LeRoy A., on Feb. 5, 2004.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc.
