Frances V.L. Carter, 80, Brockton, Mass., formerly of Reading, died June 17, 2007, at 1:45 p.m. in the Boston Medical Center. Her husband, Ernest Carter, passed away in 1993.
Born April 25, 1927, in Asheville, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Richard Williams and Gertrude Williams Hunter.
She was employed for more than 20 years as an assistant preschool teacher with the Berks County Intermediate Unit until her retirement.
She was a member of the South Seventh Street Mennonite Church, Reading.
She was an active member of the Youth of Yesterday Scholarship Program, Reading.
Surviving are two sons, Everette A�a�A"KaiA�a�A� Carter, St. Louis, and Larry Carter, Reading; and two daughters, Shari A. (Carter), wife of Eric L. Jackson, Waynesville, Mo., and Annette M. (Carter), wife of Terrence L. Jackson, Brockton, Mass.
Other survivors include six grandchildren: Raymond Carter Jr., Erica (Jackson) Dixon, Jenell Jackson, Jordan Carter, Raya Jackson and Aaron Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Raymond Carter III and Antjwon.
Graveside services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Viewing will be Saturday 4 to 6 p.m. in the Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. Ninth St., Reading.
