Elizabeth Waninger

Elizabeth C. Waninger, 85, formerly of Reading, died Oct. 22 at 6:40 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, shortly after admission. She was taken there from Berkshire Center, Exeter Township, where she had resided since June.

Her husband, Ralph J. Waninger, died in June 2001.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Katherine (Wilding) Sarvas.

Waninger had been employed as a secretary by the Catholic Social Agency of Reading, until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township.

Waninger is survived by a son, Thomas R., Bowdin, Maine.

Other survivors include two sisters, Pauline (Sarvas) Coleman, Mohnton, and Maria (Sarvas) Ettel, Mount Joy, Lancaster County.

There are also six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-grandson.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen (Waninger) Henry.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Church. Burial will be in Maine. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
