Donald W. Lewars, 74, Royersford and formerly of Exeter Township, died May 2, 2008, at 11:45 a.m. in ManorCare, Pottstown, where he had been a patient for two months. He was the husband of Carolyn A. (Scotti) Lewars. He was predeceased by first wife, Louise (Kline) Lewars.
Born Sept. 14, 1934, in Reading, he was a son of William D. and Carrie M. (Orth) Focht.
He worked as a welder for Parish Structural Products Division of Dana Corp., for 191/2 years until retiring in 1994. He was also the operator of LLL Produce on Route 422 in the Baumstown Market.
He served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Lewars enjoyed fishing, coin collecting and karaoke. His favorite song to sing was A�a�A"My WayA�a�A� by Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: David W. and Larry L., both of Exeter Township; and Jeffrey, Bloomsburg; and three daughters: Lisa (Lewars) Sassaman, Robeson Township; Donna (Lewars) Goerner, Cressona; and Denise (Lewars) Smith, Temple.
Other survivors include 12 grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. Ninth St., Reading, with the Rev. Victor A. Kroninger officiating. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Friends will be received Wednesday from noon to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
