Arthur R. Moyer, 84, of State College, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1:12 am in Penn State Health-St. Joseph Hospital surrounded with his loving family. He was the husband of Barbara G. (Else) Moyer. They celebrated their 64th anniversary in November. Born in Johnstown, PA, Mr. Moyer was the son of the late Leslie and Sarah (Shannon) Moyer. Art was employed by the United States Postal Service for 32 yrs . He had been attending Spring Valley Church of God for the past seventeen months, served in the United States Army during the Korean War and also was the President of the State of Pennsylvania of the ODD Fellows for a year. He loved to play Santa for many of the local business and schools.
Above all he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children Sara L. Sweinhart, wife of Dennis of Fleetwood, PA; Arthur R. "Rusty" Moyer, Jr. husband of Tammy of Waynesboro, PA; Mary Catharine Amsbury, wife of Scott of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Frank Lester Moyer, husband of Madonna of Ashville, NC and Timothy Shannon Moyer of State College. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Heidi, Nick, Kevin, Christopher, Danielle and Frank Jr. and his 15 great grandchildren.
Mr. Moyer is also survived by his siblings Leslie Moyer, husband of Margaret of State College; Sharon Brooks, wife of Roy of Runville, PA and Linda Callison of York, PA.
Memorial Service will be held in Spring Valley Church of God, 2727 Old Pricetown Road, Temple, PA 19560 Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends in Spring Valley Church of God Saturday 10:00-11:00 am. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center 333 Cottman Ave. Philadelphia,PA 19111; The Independent Order of Odd Fellows 454 Rolling Ridge Drive, #1 State College, PA 16801 in memory of Mr. Arthur R. Moyer.
Special Note: There will be a memorial service in State College scheduled at the convenience of the family at a later date.
