Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, she was the daughter of Heriberto Arturo Castro Guerrero and Francisca A. Altemar. Surviving are children Jennifer Castro, Jessica Castro, one grandchild, and siblings Manuel Castro, Orlando Castro and Ana Rosa Castro.
